February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and features Valentine’s Day.
1 in 3 teens experience violence in a relationship, including youth as young as 11. Many 6th graders already have unrealistic and unhealthy ideas of what relationships should be like.
To raise awareness about healthy relationships, WIN is hosting a Design a Valentine contest!
Students are invited to design a digital valentine that can be shared on social media or through text and email that promotes healthy relationships.
Last year’s winner was
6th grade – Forbes Road
Students must be in 6th-12th grade and reside in Franklin and Fulton counties in order to compete.
Eligible students will design a digital valentine that can be shared on social media, through text, or through email. Suggested sizes are 1080×1080 or 1080×1350. The design must feature a message about healthy relationships. (For ideas and inspiration they can check out loveisrespect.org)
Students may use design software like Canva, but the design should be original and not a pre-made template.
Designs must be submitted to gaylej@winservices.org no later than 10pm Monday, February 9th. Email submissions must include the student’s name, grade, and school (only first name, last initial, and grade will be used publicly).
[Note: Emails sent from school email addresses are often blocked by the school. To avoid being blocked, submissions should be sent from a non-school email address.]
Winners will be announced on Thursday, February 12th. Winners will be notified via the email from their submission.
Submissions will be judged by a a panel of volunteers. The top three winners will win a Dunkin Donuts gift card. The top five winners will be showcased on our website and social media pages!
