Take the first step to end sexual violence!

WIN’s sixth annual walk will take place on Friday, May 4, 2018! We’re looking for men to don a pair of bright red high heels and walk just 6 blocks along Main Street in Downtown Chambersburg.

Register below as an individual walker or as a team of up to 4 walkers. Registration fee includes a Walk A Mile t-shirt and the use of high-heels during the walk.

Don’t forget to get sponsors!

A big part of this event is getting sponsors to donate to your walk! Tell others that you are walking to raise awareness about sexual violence and all the money raised will go to support Women In Need’s programs and services to help victims.

Use the Sponsor page to get friends, family, and co-workers to pledge money. Set a personal goal for how much you want to raise and try to reach your goal!

Collect money from sponsors before the event and either bring them to Women In Need or to the event! The individual and team who raise the most money will be recognized with their very own Walk A Mile plague to display and brag about.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: Registration fees cost $20 for an Individual Walker and $15 for Team Members. The registration fee includes a Walk a Mile t-shirt and the use of WIN’s high-heels during the event. We also ask that walkers collect sponsorships for the walk.

Q: How do I collect sponsorships?
A: It’s easy! Download a Sponsorship Form here and use it to help you raise money. Set a personal goal about how much you want to raise and get out there! Talk to your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, church members, etc. and tell them that you are walking to raise awareness about sexual violence. Collect any money that people pledge and you can either bring it to Women In Need or bring it to the event.

This year, your sponsors can also donate to your or your team online! After you register, tell them to go to www.winservices.org/wamdonate. They can select your name and donate. You can also check this page to see which individual walker and which team has raised the most money!!

Q: Our team has more than 4 people. Can we still be a team?
A: Teams are up to 4 people. But you can split up into more than one team and make it a competition!

Q: Can we make signs or posters to carry?
A: Yes! We encourage you or your team to get creative! You can make signs showing your or your organization’s best anti-rape slogan or have team shirts, buttons, etc. However, all signs, shirts, etc. must be appropriate for the event and event staff have the right to not allow profane, vulgar, or inappropriate materials during the walk. Some examples of good slogans are:

  • Don’t just talk the talk; walk the walk
  • Rape is not OK
  • Yes means Yes!
  • Consent: Did you get it?
  • Real Men Don’t Rape
  • We [Team or Organization] Don’t Tolerate Sexual Violence!

Q: Can females participate?
A: Registration is open only to males, but women can participate in other ways. This year, we are encouraging women to wear red flat shoes and walk alongside the men in heels to show solidarity. They can also come out to cheer you on and sponsor you.
