Assessing Domestic Violence & Lethality in Domestic Abuse Conflicts
Sponsored by Women In Need, Inc.
Presented By: Juanita Sprenkle Jones, MHS, CJSOTS, NCCE
Juanita Sprenkle Jones is the Program Coordinator for SpiriTrust Lutheran Domestic Abuse Solutions in York, Pennsylvania and has over twenty years of experience working with men who batter and control their intimate partner. Also, Juanita does individual therapy, couples counseling and is a custody evaluator for custody cases that involve domestic violence.
This two-day presentation will take a look at predicting lethality in domestic violence relationships and discussing characteristics that are red flags for domestic violence and for recidivism. This presentation will also identify common characteristics of those who are abusive in their attempts to control a partner and who might escalate the control tactics to physical violence. Tools to predict risk and lethality will be examined as well as additional tools for safety planning. In addition, this presentation will take a look at understanding how gender affects the use of force in relationships. Become familiar with the interactive connection between entitlement and escalated risk of violence or lethality in intimate partner relationships and custody disputes.
