You may have noticed that the way we refer to ourselves has changed. For years, the community has known us as “Women in Need,” but lately – on our website, social media and various other places – we have begun to transition and refer to ourselves as “WIN Victim Services.”
Why the change? Although we traditionally think of women as the only victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, in reality, these issues can affect everyone, regardless of gender. And, our old name wasn’t indicative of that or the fact that we serve both men and women. So, in order to better reflect all of the survivors we serve, we are making this small, but very important, change.
