Register today for our 2nd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on September 22nd! This year, we’re bringing you all new ways to experience the walk, including door prizes and activities after the walk is over!
About Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
You know the old adage, “you don’t know what someone is going through until you walk a mile in their shoes.” This event brings that old saying to life. Local men and boys will almost literally walk a mile in the shoes of women and sexual assault victims by putting on a pair of red heels and walk together in Downtown Waynesboro. Through your support, we can raise awareness of sexual violence in our community and raise funds for WIN Victim Services.
Participate in 3 simple steps:
- Register – Complete the form below to sign up, either as an individual or with a team.
- Fundraise – Ask friends, family, and your community to sponsor your walk. This is a crucial part of participating. All proceeds go directly to WIN. Donations can be collected in-person or online here.
- Walk – Show up for check-in on the day of the event, receive your pair of heels and t-shirt, and walk downtown! Tell friends and family to come watch you and support the event!
Registration is open!

Although domestic violence can be a difficult topic to discuss, it’s important that we stay informed and aware of the issues of domestic violence and how it affects our community so that we can better support survivors. Awareness is one of the best ways that we can combat the problem.
Did you know that 1 in 4 men and 1 in 7 women are affected by intimate partner violence every year?
WIN Victim Services (formerly Women in Need) is working hard every day to prevent these issues by getting out into the community and providing training and education on the subject. We are also providing free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, so they can rebuild their confidence and their life and get on a better path for the future. Learn more below!
Our counselors provide empowerment and encouragement counseling on an individual basis to help survivors work through trauma and move toward confidence.
WIN advocates are available anytime, day or night, to answer the hotline and provide support.
Legal advocates can help survivors attain a protection order against their abusers by assisting with paperwork and accompanying survivors in court.
WIN offers a variety of support group formats where clients can interact with other survivors to find support and empowerment. All sessions are guided by a counselor.
Clients with nowhere safe to stay can enter into our emergency shelter program while they work to build confidence and independence.
As a nonprofit, WIN needs generous donations in order to operate and provide free services to survivors. The gift of items or monetary support is so appreciated! Check out our donations page for more information.
